Globa Tattoo prepaid users should use the APN: http.globe.com.ph

Globe Tattoo postpaid users should use the APN: internet.globe.com.ph

Although the back network is the same for SmartBro and SmartBuddy subscribers, they use two different APNs to easily track which subscribers are connecting via their Buddy/Bro services. Also the SmartBuddy APN is capable of subscribing you to additional services (using load), e.g if you visit the mobile version of Facebook, the APN might subscribe you to the mobile package, even though you’ve already subscribed to an unlimited surfing package. That’s why it’s generally safer to use the SmartBro APN on a SmartBro simcard.

The APN for SmartBro postpaid and prepaid is: smartbro

The APN for SmartBuddy postpaid is: internet

openDNS use BIND resolvers in their public DNS service, operating on IP 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220. These are anycast addresses, being announced from multiple servers around the world. So you don’t have to worry about working out which of their servers is closest to you, or updating IPs when/if openDNS add new capacity.

If you want every computer on your network to use openDNS resolvers, you need to add them as your primary and secondary DNS servers in your routers control panel. If you want just certain computers to use them, you can set them manually on individual computers. The ideal solution is to set your ISPs DNS server as the primary (since it will usually be fastest, since your request doesn’t have to be sent over the slow public internet) and then openDNS as your secondary due to their reliability.

OpenDNS provide a free website blocking service, by category or individual site. This works by hijacking NXDOMAIN to redirect requests for blocked sites to their block.opendns.com server. This server gives the following message:

Blocked Domain – This domain is blocked. Sorry [domain] has been blocked by your network administrator.

Hungary is one of those places in Europe whose capital, Budapest, is more popular to the general masses than the country itself (at least that’s what I know of anyway). When you do find yourself in Hungary one of these days, take the time to tour Budapest and see the sights.

Budapest is divided into two by the Danube River: Buda is the older portion of the city which is situated in a hilly area, and Pest is the younger area and much more contemporary than its counterpart, full of museums and art deco buildings. There are quite some historical sights to see in Budapest. First and foremost, go see the Holy Right Hand of King St. Stephen of Hungary, which is the only part of his body that remained intact after his mummification (the rest of his body were mere remnants in the form of bones, but the hand is very much intact). It is on display in St. Stephen’s Basilica. Also visit the Castle Hill, where you can find the Buda Castle, churches, a number of museums depicting Hungarian history, and the National Széchenyi Library.

Visit these notable places as well: Esztergom Basilica, the third largest church in Europe; Dohány Street Synagogue, the largest synagogue in Europe; Gödöll?, the second largest Baroque castle in the world; and Széchenyi Medicinal Bath, the largest medicinal bath in Europe. Budapest is so full of these notable and historical places because of its long history and what I’ve mentioned only barely touches what you can find in Budapest, but these are some of the most notable places you should see.

Forget that Americans always make fun of Canada and aren’t necessarily fond of their neighbors. Canada has a low crime rate, has beautiful scenery, and just like many places around the world, it has many festivals to offer. It’s much too big for me to know everything, though, so I’m sticking to a place I”m more or less familiar with – the province of British Columbia.

I’m familiar with BC because a friend of mine migrated there and has told me of his life there ever since. Of course, Vancouver is in BC, so if you want the city life with a touch of beautiful mountains to give you a sense that nature is still close by then you should really consider going to BC. Of course, if you’re a tourist looking for interesting things all over BC, then their festivals are the way to go. Every spring they have a festival celebrating the stopover of around 20,000 migrant Brant geese, known as the Brant Wildlife Festival. You can participate in marsh tours and photography workshops during this festival. Also in the spring is the Pacific Rim Whale Festival, where you will see the Gray whales along Vancouver Island’s coast either by watching from the coast or by riding a charter boat so you can get a closer look.

During the summer, attend the Filberg Festival, where the best works of new and up-and-coming artists from the BC area are put on display for the people to appreciate. If you’re into music, you can attend the Jazz Fest International as well during the summer and see your favorite jazz artist perform during one of the ten days the festival is held.

Both in summer and in the fall you can attend the Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival, which is a professional festival that presents Shakespeare plays in a tent near the English Bay. Those with literary minds and a love of Shakespeare will certainly appreciate this. You can also go to the Victoria Classic Boat Festival, which showcases 100 classic sail and power boats from before 1956.

There is a long list of festivals in BC alone, and so I suggest you do your research first. There are a handful (or even more than a handful at times) of festivals going on there at the same time, so when planning your trip, take into consideration all the festivals you want to see which are going on by the time you get there. You’re sure to learn something and to enjoy BC’s natural gifts as well.

The different royal families around the world where monarchy is still observed are under constant scrutiny of the media’s eyes. To the public they are the ones blessed with the power, the money, and the privilege that none of us would ever have because it takes a certain kind of blood and DNA to achieve. Yet in the present day, assuming that the royal family has that kind of power and money is being too presumptuous. The constitutional monarchy and the parliamentary system practically stripped royalty of their powers, and left them as merely ceremonial figures in their respective countries. So while they do hold some level of privilege and honor, they no longer hold as much power as they used to; in consequence, they no longer hold as much money as they used to as well, for the people’s money is controlled by the parliament and is distributed according to the budget they have set for the country for that particular time.

It is because of this that members of different royal families are beginning to break out from their expected molds. Take for instance, Sarah, Duchess of York, former wife of HRH Prince Andrew. Sarah Margaret Ferguson, more commonly known as Duchess Fergie, owed a total of about 4.2 million pounds by the time her divorce with Prince Andrew was done. What she did was she lost a lot of weight, flew to the United States, became a spokesperson for Weight Watchers and paid back her dues. To this day, she remains a well sought-after speaker and a spokesperson for different consumer brands and she has paid off both her debts and the debts of her mother.

Another good example is Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana of Thailand, the only daughter of Crown Prince Maha Vajralongkorn. With a little nudging, she has joined the SEA Games in 2005, and although this can be taken as simply following the footsteps of her grandfather, the fact remains that royals don’t normally just join the SEA Games. Also, this year she debuted as a fashion designer in one of the major fashion capitals of the world – Paris.

These two are perfect examples of breaking the mould and breaking away from the constraints of being royalty. They have proven that they can make lives for themselves and that they can make themselves known for something else, something other than being royalty. Slowly the monarchy is evolving to be more self-reliant, given the slight independence that comes from being stripped of their powers to an extent. Still, they make it a point to try and stay out of trouble for as long as they can – they are still representatives of their respective countries, after all, and are still expected to behave a certain way.

One of the major things that the people watch whenever they talk about politics is the fiscal calendar of the year. The budget that the government will be alloting for certain departments is very important to the people because the people see it as a means of knowing how their leader prioritizes things, and which projects are being given the most attention and the most resources.

A recent study shows that the US spent a large amount of their budget on the military, and that if we were to total the budget of all the countries in the world for military expenditures in 2005, the world spent a total of $1.1 trillion the US spent nearly half of that budget. Other regions have smaller percentages, but if you look at the individual budgets of these countries and what percentage of their budget was used for military purposes, they still used a huge chunk of their budget for military expenditures. When you look at education, though, it’s a different story. The developed continents had a high budget for education, even higher than the total military budget of the world (North America had a budget of $1.355 trillion in just in 2004), but those smaller countries and the developing nations, who need more budget for education precisely because they are developing, only had small percentages of their budgets alloted for education.

It is precisely because of things like this that people monitor the fiscal calendar and the planning of the fiscal calendar closely. In the developing countries, this is a major issue because education and agriculture, two of the major resources of these countries, are not being given the attention they deserve, whereas military exercises are being given much more priority. In the bigger countries, meanwhile, while education has not suffered as much as it has in the smaller countries, what has suffered in its stead is the health care service in these developed countries. What, then, could these countries learn from each other when it comes to budgeting? Let’s hope they learn in time, before we suffer the consequences of their misplaced priority.

I just love caramel. Whether as a candy or as a sauce, I love caramel. It’s my own personal chocolate – I just want to put it everywhere for as long as I can, and I can just consume it on its own. So I wanted a recipe for an easy-to-make creamy caramel sauce that I can store for future use. My aunt taught me, but she taught me how to make caramel syrup, not caramel sauce, so I had to go and find an easy recipe that I can work with.

Of course, like all dishes, I found an easy recipe. It’s simple: to make the creamy caramel sauce, just take a cup each of brown sugar, granulated sugar, and heavy cream, and a quarter teaspoon of vanilla. You combine everything in a saucepan, and heat and mix until the sugar dissolves very well into the mixture. You can store this caramel sauce in bottles or in whatever container you wish to place it. I haven’t tried placing it in the fridge though, so I would just have to say store it in room temperature just to be on the safe side. There you have your very own caramel sauce, I hope you like it and enjoy it as much as I do!

If somebody gave you a bottle of wine, would you know how to best preserve its taste, and when it would taste its best so that you can drink it at that time? Well worry no more, I’ve got a few tips to help. Of course, I’m no wine genius, so some (or most, even!) of these things are common sense.

First and foremost, you need to find out when the wine was produced. This is so you know when its flavor will mature, when you can drink it and it won’t taste like grape juice, and how strong the flavor would be by a certain given date. When you already know this, then know this second piece of information: red wine gets better with age, while white wine is best when it’s more recent. So if you have a bottle of wine that was made in 2003, a red variation will be better a few years from that time, while the white variation would taste best if you opened it the following year or so. Serve the wine in wine glasses with stems – this helps in enhancing the wine’s smell for your senses and also helps you in avoiding the change of temperature by letting the wine get in contact with the warmth of your hand. Wine is, of course, best served at the temperature it is recommended to be served in: cooler temperatures for sparkling wine and white wine, and a cool room temperature for red wine.

Make sure that when you’re storing your wine bottles, you store them in a cool, dark place that doesn’t vibrate a whole lot. Also, if you don’t have a wine rack for storing the wine and you’re storing the wine upright, make it a point to move the contents around every now and then (not shake it, just roll it every now and then) so that the flavor does not get concentrated at the bottom of the bottle only. I don’t have a wine rack so that’s what I do with my wine bottles. Most importantly, when you’ve opened a bottle and you find that you can’t put back the cork (as what happens to me all the time), then transfer the remainder of the wine in a bottle, fill the bottle up to the brim and put the cap on. This is done in order to prevent the wine from aging too quickly – air oxidizes the wine and makes it age more quickly. If you follow these simple tips you’re sure to enjoy your wine experience.

I am a seafood fanatic. This was because as a kid not only did I get more than my fair share of fresh fruits, I also got more than my fair share of fresh seafood. Whenever my dad would arrive from his birth place, he would bring home fresh (living!) crabs and lobsters and crawfish, and freshly-caught shrimp by flying them in crates, and I would eat as many as I could until I could no longer eat more.

Because of that, it’s understandable that now I don’t just want the usual steamed shrimp. I wanted more flavor, because I already was so used to the taste of steamed fresh shrimp that nowadays when I eat some, I think it tastes rubbery already even when it tastes great to most people. What my mom did to mix it up was simple, and it’s a pretty common solution in asia: sautee the shrimp in condiments and spices. She didn’t put much – she just sauteed the shrimp I was gonna eat in oyster sauce, added garlic bits, and seasoned according to her tastes, and already I had a new dish to get used to. Now whenever I eat shrimp at home, it has to be the Asian shrimp that my mother makes.

There are so many things that you can do with mangoes. You can serve it as a side dish, as an appetizer, as part of the main course, as the dessert, as the refreshment – name it, you can use the mango for that. Maybe it’s because of its innate sweetness that’s just sweet enough to be versatile for any dish you can think of. So what are your favorite uses for mangoes?

When I was a kid, I would get the ripe mangoes, puree them with my hand using a spoon (I did it by lightly scraping the top – it becomes pureed more smoothly than when you run the mango bits in the blender) and then use the mango puree to top my rice.

Then I would slice more ripe mangoes and eat those as they are, with my mango-flavored rice. Some of the puree I would put in the blender with a few pieces of fresh strawberries and blend together, and I’ve got my drink – a mango-strawberry puree that I drink as a smoothie. Now that I’m older I still do that, and I still think it tastes good, but I don’t do it as often as I did when I was a kid because I’ve already thought of many different ways to use mango in my food. What’s your story?

We know that chocolate in itself is already one of the best desserts you can ever have. But if you’re one of those people who want chocolate-flavored something (like most people!), or if you’re one of those people who just want to try things out with chocolate, then you’ve most probably made the ultimate chocolate dessert in my book – chocolate pudding.

It’s easy to make chocolate pudding, although it depends on which recipe you’re using. Some recipes require baking, but this one you can do on top of your stove. All you need is a quarter cup of sugar, a quarter cup of cocoa powder – unsweetened, 2 tablespoons of corn starch, two cups of whole milk (I never follow this – I use whatever milk I have, but I suggest you follow it if you’re a beginner or if you want it to go right instantly), a large egg, 4 oz. Semi-sweet chocolate chips, and a pinch of salt.

You just whisk together the cocoa, corn starch, salt, and sugar in a heavy saucepan, and then slowly whisk in the milk, bringing it up to a boil while whisking constantly. Boil and whisk for around three to five minutes or until it’s thick, and then remove from heat. In a meltproof bowl, beat the egg, and then slowly whisk in the melted mixture (take note: slowly, or else your egg will get cooked and solidify!). Whisk in the chocolate chips until they’re melted, pour in ramekins, and put in the fridge. You’ve got your stovetop chocolate pudding ready to be served as it is or topped with whipped cream!

The beautiful thing about modern musicians is that they’re always willing to do something for a cause. Aside from the fact that it helps their image, it also gives them a chance to make a difference for those causes they truly believe in. So we should thank those artists from the 80s who made the charity singles/charity records popular – they continue to make a difference in the world.

There are three charity singles that I remember the most, and one of those songs is a song I did not know was a charity single until today. The two songs I’m aware of as charity singles are “We Are The World” by USA for Africa and “What’s Going On” by Artists Against AIDS Worldwide. “We Are The World” was recorded for the benefit of the victims of the famine in Ethiopia, and “What’s Going On”, a cover of Marvin Gaye’s hit song from the 70s, was originally recorded for AAAW, but since it was recorded shortly before the 9/11 tragedy in the United States, it also became the poster song for the 9/11 victims.

The third song I know of, the song I did not know was a charity song until today, is Dionne Warwick, Elton John, Gladys Knight and Stevie Wonder’s “That’s What Friends Are For”. It was recorded for the benefit of the American Foundation for AIDS Research, and I only found out today that it is a charity song. What other charity songs do you know of? It’s a good thing to know that artists are continuously striving to make the world a better place and are striving to affect as many people as they can with these issues through their music.

I remember joining my first singing contest. It was a contest in school, and everyone knew I could sing, but at the time I was still very shy and didn’t feel like joining any contests because I was focused on my studies. But I was forced by my teachers and my classmates to audition for the contest, and when I got in (and made it all the way to the finals) I decided to choose a song from one of my favorite artists of the time: “Don’t Speak” by No Doubt.

It wasn’t a song you usually sang for contests and such – at least not before the dawn of American Idol anyway. But I thought Gwen Stefani’s voice there sounded great, and I just loved hearing Gwen sing the line “It’s all ending / I gotta stop pretending who we are…”. You just know she’s not just some rocker but she’s an artist who can really sing. Though some may say they weren’t nearly as successful as other artists with their albums, I thought that album from which “Don’t Speak” was taken – “Tragic Kingdom” – did well in producing its share of hit songs. That’s what attracted me to No Doubt and, eventually, to Gwen Stefani, as artists, and that’s what made me choose the song for that contest.

In the end, No Doubt was responsible for returning the ska movement in the 90s. So I guess I’m justified for choosing that song in spite of the fact that it was unconventional at the time.

Who doesn’t recognize the deep, rich, contralto voice of Toni Braxton?

Recently I was able to watch again the video of her song “Breathe Again”, off her first album Secrets. That was the video where her hair was still short. Whenever I hear that song I’m reminded of those times when I’d be singing her songs (particularly that song and “Un-Break My Heart”) and I’d think I had the same contralto voice as she had (as I found out much later on, I actually am a soprano). Her voice just struck me as unique at the time because my parents played a lot of the 80s music with the small voices of the female artists and the high, deceiving falsetto of the male artists.

Apparently this was the same reason the councilors for LA Reid and Babyface signed her on to LaFace records. It’s said that they were smitten by her voice and even compares her voice to Anita Baker, who reached fame in the 80s when she won the Grammys for her album Rapture. Anyway, back to Toni – they signed her on after she sang a song that Reid and Babyface wrote originally for Baker. Good thing she rocked that performance – she ended up recording another song, a duet with Babyface, before she was signed on to LaFace and now I have her wonderful voice to look back to. I hope she makes music like she did that time – although I’m glad she has evolved as an artist, I didn’t think “Hit The Freeway” (from a few years back) showcased the beauty of her voice as well as her past hits did.

I remember turning on my television and seeing this tiny kid rapping, with grown women dancing around him in skimpy clothing, and he just looked so adorable. I remember my cousin and I just going, “I make you run through my mind, like, all the time / To the point that I just wanna take you home” and then we try to imitate his dance moves. It actually surprised me to know that we were actually born the same year, and that “kid” wasn’t nearly as young as he looked.

Bow Wow has done one of the most difficult things to do in the industry – grow up in front of the public. Other actors and musicians have done it, but they’ve encountered problems along the way (Britney’s having a hard time with the media pouncing on her whenever she’s partying hard, and Drew Barrymore did drugs when she was around 13, these are good examples); whereas Bow Wow has managed to stay out of trouble and has showed the audience that he was growing up by changing his name from Lil’ Bow Wow to just Bow Wow and releasing hit songs like “Let Me Hold You” with Omarion and “Shortie Like Mine” with rising star Chris Brown.

He has grown up with class in front of our eyes, and is now a musician and a man that the women can dream of, not just the cute kid dancing with way older (hot) women on TV.

Ne-Yo’s star is rising quickly, and he’s using his skills in writing for himself at last.

His second single, “So Sick”, off his debut album, has already topped the charts and is one of those songs you’ll hear everywhere these days. People can relate to his plight, after all: you’ve got someone who says he doesn’t want to be reminded of the loved one he just lost, and yet can’t seem to let go just yet. Everyone’s been through that. Ne-Yo’s turning himself into one hot commodity the public just wants to get their hands on.

Yet he’s been a hot commodity for quite sometime now, only he’s kept under the radar of the masses because he’s been working in the background. He was a songwriter for stars like Janet Jackson and Celine Dion and was making quite a living out of that already, when he was signed by LA Reid because he was impressed by the work Ne-Yo has done. It has paid off, because while the first single did not chart like this second single did, “So Sick” not only managed to hit the charts, but to top it as well. Here’s to hoping Ne-Yo’s going to make more beautiful music for us to enjoy.
